DIY Spa Day

The Bride-to-be Queen-bee needs pampering. Reflexologist first, then manicure and pedicure and waxing. I started to melt some candles but was told this had to be done by a skilled artiste so as I couldn't remember what she asked for, I've booked a
BIKINI WAX
BRAZILIAN WAX
CHEST WAX
CHIN WAX
FULL LEG & BIKINI WAX
FULL LEG & BRAZILIAN
FULL LEG & HOLLYWOOD
FULL FACE WAX
HALF LEG & BIKINI WAX
HALF LEG & BRAZILIAN
HALF LEG & HOLLYWOOD
LIP WAX
LIP & CHIN WAX
UNDERARM WAX

She will be bald.

Me, I'm having a bath.

Pew bows?

As for pew bows, they sound ruder than they are. After an enormous amount of R & D, dummy mock ups, masses of swearing, disasters and more swearing, we have the answer.

They won't be like this. Far too easy.

Our pew bows have to have no bows, but fresh flowers, smell gorgeous, look amazing and be easy and cheap to produce. Oh and feature some of my mums lace, a Spanish fan and flowers from granny's garden.

I now know how Tim Berners-Lee felt.

The answer involves pipe clips, hack saws, freezer bags and a whole heap of good luck.

Finally, I have an inexpensive solution to an expensive problem. The industrial designer was Carol, who is very handy with a hack saw. But the freezer bag idea was mine, a-a-all mine... Carol is moving on to bigger things like this:

But I'm busy producing the pew bows, I might have to have another sit down.

This could be due to the over use of Vodka;

The secret to keeping cut flowers looking good as long as possible is to minimize the growth of bacteria in the water and to provide nourishment to replace what the flower would have got had it not been cut. Add a few drops of vodka (or any clear spirit) to the water for antibacterial action along with 1 teaspoon sugar. Change the water every other day, refreshing the vodka and sugar each time.

Then sleep it off in a pew.

Echy thump

Last year we had one, well look what we've got this year,

Only ten! And it's the 'I Want' at Chelsea Flower Show this year, the weed of New Zealand, the Echium. Well we get about 30,000 seeds from this lot... Hey, finally, we're rich!

And Rafa, you are wonderful.

Mother Hen Party

It was a birthday-come-mother hen-come-what-the-heck party. We were at the Arts Club which is great but you are just going to have to believe me as the only thing you can't do there is take photos.

There must be something in the spring water as our Pol's doing it, Zelda's Jack and Alexa's Henrietta are also doing it. They are all getting hitched.

Joy's Georgia is having to much fun travelling around the States and Susie and Sarah's girls have got a lot more fun to have before they go in for the kill.

So we discussed hats, shoes, bags and who had'nt invited George Clooney. After lunch, Sarah left to have her hair cut and Zelda bought another Mother of the bride wedding dress.

Thanks to all the lovely ladies for getting me there, a great time, more delicious food and getting me home.

A night at the opera

We had the best time at Glyndebourne.

Our picnic was asparagus, parma ham, salmon, strawberries and meringues from Cocoa and Harry's brownies.

Who wouldn't be smiling?

Falstaff was great too.

All Greek to me

Finally found the photos from Kefalonia and what a great place it is. Here's lovely Zelda by a crowded pool.

Until I fell in, it was my favourite pool ever.

And we had to return to Ithaca just to make sure it wasn't a dream.

I have bought this house.

I just need to chuck the current owners out.

And this one.

Buy flight socks before you fly. Not a cool look at all but it really helps. And thanks Zelda for getting me to walk up and down the plane every 20 minutes. I also served tea and coffee as well. So exercised, hydrated and knackered.

man alive, fifty five!

Fifty five years old. Now all my friends seem to have some malady or other, I've decided to 'accentuate the positive'. All this going on about illness, ain't going to get us better any faster is it?

"There are headaches a plenty for the man of steel when everybody tries to steal his thunder in 'Too many Heroes'"  so said the comic cover no. 55

Since we last spoke I have holidayed on a Greek Island with my chum Zelda. We had a wonderful time and I will show you the pictures when the old man has fixed the computer.

My birthday present from Sarah and Alan is a night at the opera. Hello, I must be going.
